A FESTIVAL-GOER who got stuck head-first in a toilet has caused an internet sensation after becoming known as “poo girl”.

The teenager became trapped when she tried to grab a bag she had lost in a long-drop toilet at the weekend’s­ Leeds Festival. But the 19-year-old, named on several websites as Charlotte, got jammed in the seat as she reached for the handbag containing­ £400, an iPhone and her ticket home.

Her cousin Katie was ­reported saying: “I think most people would have left the bag, but it had all of her money in it, her phone and her tickets home – her life ­really. She couldn’t reach with one arm so she put her other arm in, and managed to get her shoulders stuck. Her arms are black and blue from bruises.”

The toilets were closed for half an hour as on-site firefighters prised her head and arms free – and retrieved the precious bag. Katie added: “She was hosed down, which was a bit embarrassing, but she hadn’t been covered in anything as her hands were a good few feet above it.

“She stayed for the rest of the festival – but said she thought ­people would be nasty. It did spoil it a little bit but she’s able to laugh it off now.”

Several Facebook sites have been set up, including Poo Girl Leeds Fest 2009 ­Appreciation Society, which has close to 10,000 members. T-shirts and bags have gone on sale bearing the slogan “I am Poo Girl”.

One witness said: “She didn’t go fully in but her legs were sticking out the toilet. The firemen got her out, sent her to hospital and then she came back.”
