Naked man on board a plane forces pilot to make a detour
Off-duty cops restrain a passenger who stripped down to his birthday suit on a US Airways flight from Charlotte to Los Angeles
2 July 2009
FLYING can be quite claustrophobic for some, but one passenger decided to relieve the stress by stripping off mid-flight - forcing the pilot to make a detour so that the man could be arrested.
The passenger, named as Keith Wright, decided halfway through a US Airways flight from Charlotte to Los Angeles that his clothing was no longer necessary and shocked fellow travellers by baring all.
These photos were snapped by a fellow passenger as the bizarre incident unfolded. It is not currently known why the man decided to disrobe. Wright was apparently running around the cabin naked before he was handed over to officials on the ground.
The 50-year-old was restrained by two off-duty law enforcement officers, who happened to be onboard.
He was taken into custody by airport police, who called the FBI. The FBI may decide to transport him to an FBI facility. He will likely be taken to a local detention centre in the meantime.
The plane continued on to Los Angeles after the incident.
