A man was struck by lightning just one minute after he swore to God that he did not owe money to a neighbour.
Xu made the pledge in front of neighbours in China’s Fuqing City, according to reports.
His neighbour, Huang, had said Xu borrowed the equivalent of £40 from him three years earlier.
Huang, who went to Xu's home to demand payment, said: "I told him that if he dared to swear to God that he didn't owe me the money, then I would waive his debt.”
Xu made the oath but was suddenly struck down by lightning.
He was taken to hospital where doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
