ARE linguistic lessons in lingerie and a Geordie make-up masterclass really what web users want?
Tech magazine .net has revealed the most popular users on YouTube – and the results might not be what you expect.

The users – people who have set up their own “TV channels” on the video-sharing site – come in all shapes and sizes, from rock legends Metallica to the Department of Health.
But the most popular aren’t anything so predictable. Look at HotforWords – a strange series of mini-lessons into the origin of English words, presented by a blonde Russian philology graduate in her bra and pants. A startling 180,000 people hang on her every dissected word.
Or Panacea81, aka Lauren Luke – a young single mum from Tyneside who uses the site to provide make-up advice to fans keen to do their faces like the stars. More than 170,000 lipstick-lovers flock to her channel to learn how best to apply eye-liner.
But the most popular in the world is, weirdly, someone who pretends to be a six-year-old. Fred Figglehorn, a fictional child created just a year ago by 15-year-old Lucas Cruikshank from Nebraska, has rocketed to an amazing 900,000 viewers already.
He is believed to have made more than $100,000 (£70,000) in sponsorship already – from leaping around pretending to be a kid. Pocket money won’t be a problem any more.
