Concerns over recession and job security stop workers having fun in the office
3 September 2009
KILLJOY bosses are clamping down on workers having fun in the office, hitting morale and cutting out playful pranks.
A study of 5,000 workers showed that the recession had stopped many of them sharing jokes in the office because of increased pressure and worries about job security.
Almost one in three said managers had cracked down on banter and jokes, with many saying office life was now getting them down.
Even office practical jokes have been hit, with workers now playing just four a year, as opposed to one a month 12 months ago, said the report by new TV channel Comedy Central.
