Artist Adam Morrigan wants £1m for his roadkill art
Father-of-three Adam Morrigan makes art out of dead animals he scrapes off the road, and wants seven figures for his latest, Mappe Mundi

HOW much would you be willing to pay for two dead ducklings picked up off the road?
Well, if you are after the poor birds discovered by Gloucestershire artist Adam Morrigan, you will have to pay at least £1m to get hold of them.
The father-of-three has, er, scraped out a niche in the art world with his works made from roadkill, and he has high ambitions for his latest piece, Mappe Mundi.
The 40-year-old claims to have produced his "lifetime creation" with the work, in which he stitched together the remains of the pair of flattened ducklings into a feathery whole, held in place in the centre of a stark frame by a mesh of cords.
The Horley visionary said: "I'm open to offers but if the ducklings were going to go to auction then I would insist on a reserve of a million pounds. This is my life-time creation."

But Morrigan's asking price is no figure of fancy: the artist has already sold several framed bodies of badgers, hares and foxes.
His ingenuity also stretches beyond simple wall-mounted works, as his Duality of Haute Couture piece is a handbag formed out of an unfortunate fox, and the artist also sports headwear made out of an unlucky heron.
"I entered into making these pieces to highlight the plight of many of the animals under our care and stewardship," said Morrigan, "and believe we have a duty care to protect and sustain the natural spaces still remaining, before we ruin them by exhausting them completely."
And roadkill is not just good for art, insists Morrigan, but it also makes for a slap-up meal.
