Serena Williams 'write' up for third Wimbledon title

Second seed eases her way into third round with wins over Neuza Silva and Jarmilia Groth, but she's got her eyes on a script-writing career

SERENA WILLIAMS is hoping to write the perfect ending to her Wimbledon story and win her third title at the All England Club this year.

Serena has eased her way into the third round with comfortable wins over Neuza Silva and Jarmila Groth and is looking the strong favourite once again to reach the final.

The second seed feels so at home at Wimbledon that she has even got time to write a script for a television programme.

Defending champion Venus gave her sister a book on script-writing and it seems to have paid off, as Serena seems determined to become a success away from the court as well.

Serena said: “I'm writing my script and have written three parts already. I call it 'my treatment,' so I'm working on my treatment now.

“I was going to do it on Tuesday, but I started watching Dexter and I got a little sidetracked. For me it's really about being in the mood and how I'm feeling.

“It's definitely for TV. I don't know how good I would be at writing a movie. But I just love to write. Hopefully it will be good.

“It's a mixture between some of my favourite shows, like Desperate Housewives, and Sex and the City, and actually Family Guy. It's kind of those put together in one.

“What I was told to do is just write down my ideas and write my story – just the first episode to get them the idea. I would turn it in and someone will put it into treatment format. They will put it into a script, but it would be my writing.”

Williams admits she has lost none of her appetite on court for winning more grand slams in her career and feels she is playing some of the best tennis of her career.

Serena added: “I really am really trying to be the best player that I can be in this tournament.

“I'm just here to do what I think I do best, and that's play tennis. I enjoy every moment being out on the court. I actually enjoy the competition more than anything.

“If I'm not feeling well when I step out there, and I'm in the heat of the moment, especially in a grand slam, the competition is really what keeps me motivated.”
