David Beckham desperate to secure loan move after LA Galaxy season ends
Becks keen to seal loan deal after MLS season finishes in December with AC Milan and Chelsea favourites to land the England midfielder
11 June 2009
ENGLAND hero David Beckham has told the cream of world football – come and get me.
The England midfielder returns to LA Galaxy on 10 July, but will head back to Europe on loan in December to prove to Fabio Capello that he is worthy of a place on the plane for next year’s World Cup.
AC Milan will be favourites to re-sign the former Manchester United midfielder after his recent San Siro loan.
But a host of Premier League clubs will target the most famous footballer on the planet. A reunion with Carlo Ancelotti, the former Milan coach now at Chelsea, is possible. But Beckham said: "I’m going back to the Galaxy to finish off the season and then in December I’ll see where I go. Whether that will be Milan or somewhere else, I’ll wait and see.
"The manager [Capello] knows I’m passionate about playing football, not just for my country. He also knows that about all the players. It’s not just about me and the MLS."
Beckham made his 100th start for his country on Wednesday evening, as England did to Andorra what Londoners want to do to Tube boss Bob Crow – hit them for six.
Becks’ glorious achievement stuck one in the eye to those who have questioned the validity of his 112 caps. He said: "There was a lot of talk about me getting easy caps and they can say that. But subs can come on and make a difference. One hundred starts is not too bad. I’m happy."
Beckham also paid tribute to the 58,000 fans that made who made the journey to Wembley despite the Tube strikes. Yes, the relationship has been a fractious one since Beckham made his international debut in 1996, but the bond between the midfielder and supporters is now as warm as it is strong.
Beckham added: "The support the fans have showed us on a difficult night getting here shows what passion they have for the team."
