Betting: Steve Mullen reckons Newcastle will stay up after Middlesbrough win

TOON TALK: Newcastle 1-3 to stay up after Middlesbrough win
THE bookies think Newcastle took a giant stride to Premier League safety last night with their scrappy win over Middlesbrough.
The Toon are now 11-4 with Betfred for the drop given that their goal difference has taken them above Hull. They are just 1-3 to stay up.
The Tigers are as short as 1-4 to finish in the bottom three, while it looks all over for 1-50 shots West Brom and 1-20 pokes Middlesbrough.
If you think Hull will get out of it, take Paddy Power’s 2-1 about them beating relegation.
But with Bolton away and Manchester United at home, it’s hard to see them getting another point and Phil Brown must be regretting that dressing down on the pitch at Manchester City back in December.
And there has been a big move for Alan Shearer to stay on as Newcastle manager. His already legendary status will be enhanced even further if the Toon stay up and he’s been slashed to 1-2 by William Hill to be boss on the first day of next season.
Joe Kinnear’s position is up in the air after his heart op but he’s 4-1 second favourite with Steve Bruce 5s and Iain Dowie on 6-1.
