Schoolboys shot in Wandsworth

Police appeal to witnesses after two teenage boys were shot as they crossed a footbridge near an estate in Wandsworth, south-west London

A BOY of 15 and was blasted in the back and a 16-year-old was shot in the foot in the latest shooting in the capital.

The teenagers were targeted as they crossed a footbridge from King George's Park, near the Henry Price Estate into St John's Drive in Wandsworth, south-west London, last night.

The 15-year-old was found by police and paramedics just after 9.30pm and was rushed to hospital where his condition was described as serious but stable.

The older boy was also taken to hospital but after treatment for the "minor" wound was released.

Detective Constable Geoff Grogan, who investigates gun crime within the black community, said: "We urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting or who might have seen the suspects fleeing the scene to contact us urgently.

"We particularly want to hear from anyone who may have information concerning the motive for this attack."

No-one has been arrested as yet.
