Rapper slates London's 2012 Games

Music star Dizzee Rascal, who used to live in Bow, has hit out at 2012 Olympics claiming the building work is 'sh*t' and that it has turned the east London area into a giant hole

RAPPER Dizzee Rascal has blasted London’s 2012 Olympics for turning his former home into a giant “hole”.

The British star, who is currently at the top of the charts with his single Holiday, said building work in east London on the Olympic Park is “sh*t” and the locals in the area are not even excited about the Games.

The 24-year-old - who now lives in Kent after being brought up in Bow - said: “All that 2012 stuff does my head in. I’m not even a little bit excited about it.

“I don’t still live in Bow, but I go back all the time and it’s just sh*t. The whole area is just a big building hole.”

Stratford and the surrounding areas are being transformed for the Games and the structure of the 60,000 stadium has already been built. Work is also underway on the athletes’ village and swimming pool.

Other parts around the Olympic Park are also being regenerated including train stations and travel links.

"I don’t still live in Bow, but I go back all the time and it’s just sh*t. The whole area is just a big building hole"

But the Mobo-nominated artist said he would still be up for performing the song for the opening ceremony despite his views and reckons he should be picked.

“Maybe I should be involved because I am from the area,” he added.

“I’d do the ceremony but they need to be talking about the right situation.”

He also put the boot into England’s recent Ashes win against Australia in the cricket.

“I’d rather eat glass than watch that sh*t. What the hell is that all about? It’s boring.”

The Bonkers rapper also proved he wasn’t that much of a football fan admitting he supported Arsenal and West Ham despite the fact they are rivals.

He said: “I support West Ham and Arsenal. I’m not that into football, but I like West Ham because they are from east London.”
