Met sued for £2m by two female police officers who allegedly suffered from 'sex pest' male colleagues
'Sex pests'
THE MET is being sued for £2m by two female police officers who allegedly suffered from sex pest male colleagues.
WPCs Julie Facey, 33, and Paula Church, 35, have launched sexual harassment claims, saying they were targeted by three fellow officers while working at police stations in east London.
Church claims her groin was repeatedly groped while she was at Hornchurch police station byone officer, who also suggested playing sexual forfeit games while on duty.
The same man was accused by Facey of pulling down his trousers while they were on duty and asking her to perform a sex act on him as he drove on patrol.
Facey alleges another officer called her a “fit bird”, adding: “If I was with you, I’d be sh***ing you all the time”.
Church claims another colleague stalked her, kissed her against her will and quizzed her about her underwear.
Facey, of Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, and Church, of Shoeburyness, Essex, are suing the Met and the individual officers at Stratford Employment Tribunal for sex discrimination and harassment.
One of the men was later sacked, but the women claim they were pressured by police chiefs into agreeing not to bring any criminal charges.
Their solicitor, Lawrence Davies of law firm Equal Justice, said: “If what they say is true, it will show that the Met is more interested in protecting its image then tackling serious sexual misconduct.”
WPCs Facey and Church are currently off sick.
The Met and the individual officers strongly deny the WPCs’ claims of sex discrimination. A spokesman said the force does not comment on ongoing cases.
