London to bask in sunny spells at the weekend as heatwave is forecast for August
Don't forget your suntan lotion if you're heading to the Ben & Jerry’s festival on Clapham Common on Saturday with temperatures expected to reach 24C or 25C. Meanwhile forecasters are predicting a second heatwave will hit the capital in mid-August

AFTER a miserable few weeks, summer is threatening to make a return to the capital this weekend.
Forecasters are predicting warm, sunny spells around the capital with barely a drop of rain – good news for the thousands heading to the Ben & Jerry’s festival on Clapham Common.
“London should lead a charmed life this weekend,” said MeteoGroup’s Laura Gilchrist.
“There could be a few showers knocking around this evening but those will clear away pretty quickly.
“Saturday will be dry with a few clouds bubbling up but temperatures will still reach around 24C or 25C.
"The roller-coaster summer will have another high. When it does arrive, record temperatures may well be achieved"
“On Sunday we won’t see wall-to-wall blue skies. There will be some cloud but you would be unlucky to see a shower.
“Nice for the good weather to fall on the weekend for a change!”
Although showers are due to return on Monday, there’s no need to pack away the barbeque just yet.
Experts say a heatwave is on its way, with the temperature steadily rising over the next few weeks. It could reach as high as 38.5C by mid-August.
Jonathan Powell from Positive Weather Solutions said: “The roller-coaster summer will have another high. When it does arrive, record temperatures may well be achieved.
“At present, the second week of August looks likely to break the warmest-day record for England, and possibly Wales.”
