A TEENAGER who plays one of the villains in the Harry Potter films is to appear in court charged with growing cannabis.
Jamie Waylett, 19, is to appear at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, in central London, accused of growing 10 marijuana plants.
Waylett, of Messina Avenue, Kilburn, north London, played Vincent Crabbe, a sidekick of Harry’s young enemy Draco Malfoy, in all of the Harry Potter films.
The latest instalment in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, went on general release yesterday.
It is alleged that 10 mature cannabis plants, with an estimated value of £2000, were found at his London home where he lives with his two brothers, a sister and his mother, Theresa.
The plants were reportedly being cultivated under special powerful hydroponic lights.
Another man, John William Innis, 20, of Mays Lane, Barnet, Hertfordshire, will also appear charged with possession of 11 bags of cannabis and possession of a knife.
According to Home Office guidelines, since the drug was reclassified from class C to class B in January the maximum punishment for cannabis production is 14 years in jail.
Those found guilty of possession of the class B drug can face up to five years and an unlimited fine.
