Hamleys unveils predictions for top 10 Christmas toys
World-famous toy store thinks old-school toys will be back - including Barbie, Transformers and a new Rubik's puzzle
21 July 2009
WITH 157 days still to go, the countdown to be No1 in the Christmas gift charts has already started.
Toy retailer Hamleys unveiled its top 10 2009 predictions at its flagship store in Regent Street – with new versions of familiar favourites tipped to be popular.
“Turbo-charged” spinning tops that are magnetically drawn together, a new Rubik’s puzzle, the 360 sphere, and the latest Lego set are expected to be on every child’s wish list.
"From the traditional classics like Lego to dressing-up dreams and the latest in electronic wizardry, we have one of our best ranges in years"
And on the back of a Hollywood blockbuster, Transformers toys, from voice-altering helmets to replicas of characters, should do well.
Other choices are kids’ gadgets such as digital cameras, while Barbie dolls also make an appearance.
Nigel Wheatley, head of retail at Hamleys, said: “From the traditional classics like Lego to dressing-up dreams and the latest in electronic wizardry, we have one of our best ranges in years.”
