Raj Babbra, whose ex-girlfriend Benedetta Ciaccia was killed in Aldgate blast on 7 July 2005, to release film about her life and the effects of terrorism on anniversary of her death

THE former boyfriend of a victim of the 7/7 bombings is to release a film about terrorism and its effects on the fourth anniversary of her death.

Four bombs exploded in the capital during the morning rush hour on 7 July 2005. Benedetta Ciaccia, a business analyst from Rome, was among the 52 people killed.

Ciaccia, 30, was on route to work on the Circle Line when her carriage was ripped apart near Aldgate station.

Her former boyfriend Raj Babbra will release a film about her life and the effects of terrorism on Tuesday.

Babbra, who works for the Government, decided to make the film, Life Without Benedetta, in order to "touch people".

But he said that making the film had made a huge and unexpected impact on his own grieving process.

Babbra, originally from Leeds, explained: "We were together for five years and friends for three years after that.

"I'm not a film maker, but wanted to do something that would touch people and would take me out of my comfort zone."

The film charts Ciaccia's life and includes interviews with her friends, family, and other people involved in the attacks, including survivors and members of the emergency services.

Babbra added: "It charts her life story, how we met, how her life was going and then suddenly on a seemingly normal morning she gets on the Tube and everything is changed forever.

"It was a strange process to make the film. There were times when it was quite painful.

"I had to put my emotions to one side and ask questions that were very difficult.

"People were crying their eyes out in front of me during some of these interviews."

He said that the film was not just about coping without his former girlfriend, but how people cope with loss.

The film will be released on Italian TV station RomaUno and on Babbra's website lifewithloss.org on Tuesday.
