Boris Johnson’s campaign to become Mayor of London came under fire today after he filled his application form with gags and gaffes.

The Tory MP scribbled a string of sarcastic jokes on the seven-page form, which was handed in to Conservative Central Office at the last second.

In the section “challenges faced”, Johnson stated: “Trying to help raise 4 children in inner London. Outcome: Too early to call, but looking promising.” He added:  “Negotiating Hyde Park Corner by bicycle. Outcome: survival.”

Asked how much time he could give to the role of mayoral candidate, the 43-year-old  wrote: “A great deal.” He left the “personal character” section blank.

Labour London Assembly Member Len Duvall, chair of the Met Police Authority, said: “He comes across as someone who is not taking the job seriously. I think the message it sends out is the question: does he really want the job?”
