40 convicted extremists free from jail
Sohail Qureshi who was arrested as he tried to board a plane to Pakistan with cash police believe was to be used to help fund fighters is among convicted extremists due to be freed from jail

AT LEAST 40 convicted Islamic terrorists are walking the streets of London after serving their prison sentences.
And they will soon be joined by another 50 plotters linked to al-Qaeda, who are due to be freed soon.
Among those set to be released are Sohail Qureshi, who was arrested in October 2006 as he prepared to board a flight to Pakistan.
The 31-year-old dental nurse, from east London, was found with night-vision goggles, military kit and £9,000 in cash that police believe was due to help fund fighters.
He is one of 25 Islamic fanatics due to be freed in the next 12 months and a further 25 will be out within three years.
According to security sources, at least five of those already released are "high risk" and are being closely monitored by cops and intelligence agents.
Qureshi was arrested in October 2006 and later given a four-and-a-half year sentence, but is due out in weeks.
The news comes just days after three al-Qaeda terrorists were convicted of plotting to blow up seven airliners with bombs.
Among others scheduled to be released are Muslim convert Andrew Rowe, 38, who was caught at the Channel Tunnel with instructions on firing mortars and secret codes for terror attacks.
Labelled a "global terrorist" by police, he was sentenced to 15 years in 2005.
But his sentence was later reduced to ten years by the Appeal Court and he is likely to be released in eight months.
Shoe bomber Saajid Badat and missile terrorist Kazi Nurur Rahman are scheduled for freedom in two years.
Badat was jailed after admitting planning to blow himself up aboard a passenger jet.
Rahman, 31, was arrested in November 2005 trying to buy missiles to shoot down planes.
He attended training camps in Pakistan with terrorists now serving life for plotting to bomb Kent's Bluewater shopping centre.
It is believed that 20 freed terrorists are being housed in probation hostels around the capital.
