As the swine flu news gets bleaker the jokes seem to be getting funnier - here's our round-up of the best

30 April 2009

AS news of the threatened swine flu pandemic gets bleaker, the jokes and viral funnies on the internet seem to get better.

Since its inception humour has been a key pillar of the success of the web and it seems no subject matter, not even worldwide catastrophe, is immune from online Mickey-taking.

Heard the one about the swine flu helpline? It's rubbish, just a load of crackling!

Jokey viral emails have also appeared and include a Porky Pig take on cough medicine packaging, a photo of a toddler kissing a pig with the caption "You little b*****d. You've killed us all" and a Winnie the Pooh gag which is not entirely in the spirit of the AA Milne original.

It may not be big or clever, but as the news gets worse it's hard not to laugh!
