thelondonpaper.com launches its Know the True Price of Fish campaign
Aldo Zilli backs our drive to have non-sustainable fish dropped from the menus of the capital's restaurants
11 June 2009
thelondonpaper has launched a campaign to have non-sustainable fish dropped from the menus of the capital’s restaurants.
Our Know the True Price of Fish campaign has already attracted its first high-profile supporter – chef Aldo Zilli, owner of Soho’s Zilli Fish.
"I have been really motivated to act after reading about the devastating effects of over-fishing in thelondonpaper and will be fully supporting Know the True Price of Fish"
He said: "I have been really motivated to act after reading about the devastating effects of over-fishing in thelondonpaper and will be fully supporting Know the True Price of Fish. I hope other restaurateurs will follow my lead so that in 50 years, fish will still be on the menu."
Zilli is to stop serving bluefin tuna, Atlantic cod, swordfish, white skate and Dover sole from the North and Irish Seas with immediate effect.
Instead he will be offering only fish approved by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), including organically farmed cod, Alaskan salmon, red snapper and spider crab.
Restaurateurs interested in joining our campaign should email fish@thelondonpaper.com
