Double tonic for Big Chill crowd

Music fans will be treated to two festivals in one after Big Chill organisers incorporate a mini version of the Big Green Gathering, which was axed due to a licensing problem

ECO-WARRIERS will get a double hit at The Big Chill this weekend after organisers stepped in to save the UK’s greenest festival, The Big Green Gathering, which was axed after a local council pulled the plug on it.

The not-for-profit event was to be held in Somerset, but was cancelled over a licensing issue.

A mini version will now be held at The Big Chill in Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire, this weekend, with all ticket holders invited to enjoy both.

Last year the three-day event gave the Sunrise Festival an emergency home after that event was flooded out.

"Just as we offered Sunrise an emergency home last year, we were delighted to be able to do the same for this event"

Nigel Foster, Big Chill director, said: “We have a lot of respect for the ethos of The Big Green Gathering and we were very upset to hear they were in trouble.

“Just as we offered Sunrise an emergency home last year, we were delighted to be able to do the same for this event."

Acts due to perform at this year’s Big Chill line up include Basement Jaxx, Orbital, Friendly Fires, British Sea Power, David Byrne, Mr Hudson, Norman Jay and Talvin Singh.

Music fans will also be treated to comedy from Russell Howard, Noel Fielding and Dylan Moran.
