Katy Perry vows to pen a track hitting back at Beth Ditto's 'tacky' comments

Singer says she'll respond in her music to Gossip star's 'tacky' digs

3 June 2009

ROUND two! Katy Perry has hit back at Beth Ditto for calling her “offensive to gay culture” by dubbing the Gossip singer “tacky”.

theBuzz revealed yesterday that big Beth had dismissed Katy’s No1 song I Kissed A Girl as a “boner dyke anthem” used by straight women to turn on men.

Last night Katy told theBuzz she’ll write a song slating the rotund star’s “tacky” comments.

Katy took her chance to have her say as she stepped out in a show-stopping electric blue dress at the Disarrono-sponsored Women of the Year Awards last night, where she told us: “I heard that she said something about me. I don’t want to get into a slanging war with anybody, so I don’t want to say anything bad about her. But I’m not impressed.”

Katy, 24, went on: “I’ve learnt in the past year that one artist should never insult another artist’s music – it’s tacky.

“And with me, it always comes back to bite me on the a***!”

Of course, it wasn’t just her music that Beth insulted – she went as far as to say: “I hate Katy Perry! She’s offensive to gay culture.”

And it seems wanting to avoid a potential slanging match won’t stop Katy from letting Beth, 28, know exactly how she feels.

Perry, who is set to play with a string of stars at and 95.8 Capital FM’s Summertime Ball on Sunday in association with thelondonpaper, said: “I’ll write a song about it. So much of this stuff has happened to me in the past year and I would love to express it all through my music.”

Beth, you’ve been warned!
