Emma Watson flashes her knickers at the Harry Potter premiere

Actress Emma Watson struggled to keep hold of her vintage gown at the Leicester Square premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, flashing her knickers and her ‘muggles’

8 July 2009

IT WAS a case of Harry Potter and the malfunctioning dress last night, as Emma Watson struggled to stay in her risqué red-carpet frock at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Although the actress looked stunning in a low-cut 70s Ossie Clark gown, the combination of thigh-high slash and light material proved disastrous in last night’s storm.

As she dragged her sodden dress across Leicester Square, the 19-year-old flashed her knickers for all to see.

Later, Emma appeared to forget about her number’s plunging neckline, almost revealing her ‘muggles’ as she turned up to the afterparty at Middle Temple in central London.

And Emma wasn’t the only one caught out in the rain. Co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, who looked suave in a bright pink shirt, and Rupert Grint, who opted for a simple black suit and skinny tie, were soaked through after signing autographs for the 3,000-strong crowd for more than an hour.

Other stars who braved the weather to walk the red carpet included Pixie Geldof, matching Daniel in a fluorescent pink suit, and Daisy Lowe in a silver blazer.

And there was almost a clash of celeb chef egos on the red carpet as Gordon Ramsay and family arrived at the same time as Jamie Oliver and his clan. Both avoided eye contact. And both declined to speak to the press – just as well for Jamie, as we would have asked him to explain his awful denim-on-denim outfit.
