Former OC star Mischa Barton has spoken about her tooth trauma and the toll of Ashton Kutcher’s new TV project, The Beautiful Life prior to her recent breakdown

MISCHA Barton has revealed a nightmare tooth op led to her breakdown last month.
The former OC star spoke of her trauma for the first time since being placed into psychiatric care.
She said filming for Ashton Kutcher’s new TV project, The Beautiful Life, took its toll on her – along with travel and a traumatic tooth op.
"Before the show started, I was travelling abroad for contract stuff and I went through a terrible surgery – a wisdom tooth surgery, all four removed. It was a nightmare," she said.
"It’s still healing. But I had to get through it without proper painkillers because I couldn’t take those at work. It was like a perfect storm," she told Time Out New York. "Everything was happening to me at once. I was down in the dumps for a while. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom and have to get the most stressed-out just to feel better again."

What’s more, in her new show, Mischa, 23, plays, er, a model with a drug habit.
"The character references me on purpose," explains Mischa. "I hope people will see me in it."
The Hammersmith-born actress was involuntarily admitted to hospital – by her mum – back in July, but denies she had a breakdown.
"I’m not sure I’m capable of a full-on nervous breakdown," she said. "But it was pretty bad. It didn’t last that long. It was more about the pain.
"I got stressed and couldn’t handle it all."
