Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett arrested over 'cannabis farm'
8 April 2009
A HARRY POTTER star has been arrested after police allegedly found a £2,000 cannabis farm in his bedroom.
Jamie Waylett, who plays Hogwarts school bully Vincent Crabbe in all six wizard films, was held by police after his Audi car was pulled over in Westminster.
The 19-year-old and a friend, also aged 19, were arrested after officers found eight bags of what is believed to be cannabis.
The two men were arrested around 7pm on 2 April following a tip-off.
Three hours later, police raided Waylett's mother's home in Camden and discovered 10 cannabis plants being grown beside his DJ decks and a PlayStation.
A police source said: “It was a pretty significant find. We are concerned the drugs in the car were all bagged up and ready to go.
"Work now needs to be done to establish how far down the line we are towards dealing."
The maximum jail term for cannabis production is 14 years, while it is five years for possession.
Waylett was accused of snorting cocaine in 2006.
A Met police spokesman said: "Both men have been bailed until July pending further inquiries and tests on the substances."
Young fans of the JK Rowling books will see Waylett in July when Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is released.
