Police contact Katie Price over rape claims
Detectives arrange a full interview with Jordan about the allegations although no official complaint has been made
17 September 2009
DETECTIVES have spoken to model Katie Price over claims that she was raped by an unnamed celebrity.
Officers from Surrey Police contacted the 31-year-old glamour girl, but have yet to receive an official complaint.
It is understood they have arranged to undertake a full interview with Price about the allegations in the near future.
Claims that she was attacked by a "famous celebrity" first surfaced in her national magazine column and in a subsequent interview.
Price initially said she would "absolutely never" name the celebrity and has no plans to make an official report to police.
But it was reported that she let the alleged attacker's name slip off air during filming of her ITV2 reality show What Katie Did Next.
Price first made the revelation after newspaper stories appeared about her boyfriend Alex Reid allegedly filming a rape scene for a forthcoming movie.
The model, who recently divorced singer Peter Andre, said reporting the matter to police is a "hard thing to do".
The attack is said to have taken place several years ago after a party in London's West End following a series of secret dates between Price and the unnamed man.
Speculation over the identity continues to grow and Price said she realised her comments would spark a guessing game.
But, on the TV show The Wright Stuff, Price said she would "never, absolutely never" reveal the name of her attacker when speaking to presenter Matthew Wright.
Price lives in Woldingham, Surrey. If an inquiry goes ahead, it is likely to be led by the Metropolitan Police as it allegedly took place in the capital.
The force has specialist units known as sapphire teams set up to investigate claims of rape and serious sex attacks.
A Surrey Police spokeswoman said Price has been contacted but has not been spoken to "in depth".
She said: "No report of rape has been made to Surrey Police. Officers have spoken to her. Officers will be following lines of inquiry into this offence."
