Michael Jackson leaves fortune to his mum and kids
Jackson's will nominates Supremes singer Diana Ross as second-choice guardian of his kids after his mother Katherine
1 July 2009
MICHAEL Jackson left his fortune to his three children and his mum Katherine, his will has revealed.
In the document, made in July 2002, he asks that his 79-year-old mother be made the guardian of Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II.
The will, which cuts out former wife Debbie Rowe, says ex Supremes singer Diana Ross should serve as guardian if Katherine cannot.
The entire estate is left to a family trust, which means under US laws the exact details do not have to be made public.
The singer also left some of his fortune to several charities, website TMZ.com reported.
When the will was written, Jackson's estate was estimated at more than £300 million.
Reports in the US tonight suggested there would not be a public showing of the body at the Neverland ranch in California on Friday.
Santa Barbara County officials said there were no final decisions by the Jackson family for any funeral or memorial service in the county or at Neverland.
Jackson's death last week prompted a spike in his American album sales, which were up to 422,000 in the week to Sunday, compared with 10,000 a week earlier.
A total of 2.3 million tracks have been downloaded in the US since his death.
