Lily Allen to give up singing for West End stage
Singer Lily Allen reveals plans to put singing career aside to star in Neil LaBute’s Reasons To Be Pretty on the West End
14 September 2009
LILY ALLEN is set to give up singing in favour of the West End.
The Smile singer revealed her plans to tread the boards after performing at Bestival on the Isle of Wight.
The 24-year-old showed off her toned figure on stage at the festival, wearing a white tasselled leotard and her trademark glitter face paint (which, we have to admit, is growing on us).
Lily has been offered a lead role in West End play Reasons To Be Pretty by Neil LaBute, and says she’ll start work on the show when her tour closes in March.
She said: "I've been on the road for four years and I've given my voice a real run for its money."
"I'm struggling so I'm going to try something new."
Describing the production as based on "themes close to my heart", Lily admits being "terrified" about the transition.
