Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright's makeover
Wizard's love interest Ginny Weasley aims to steal Emma Watson's fashion crown by ditching geeky Hogwarts image for hot new look
21 July 2009
LOOKS like Emma Watson has some stiff competition in the Harry Potter fashion stakes.
Hot on her heels is Londoner Bonnie Wright who plays Harry’s love interest Ginny Weasley.
On screen, her character is often seen wearing drab cardigans and brown corduroys. But off it, the 18-year-old is turning into a fashion star.
And she says she would like to follow in the footsteps of co-star Watson, the face of Burberry, by landing her own fashion campaign.
Speaking about her goal, she tells Grazia: “Prada or Miu Miu would be the dream!”
"We swap tips and talk about collections we’ve liked. But there’s no rivalry"
Bonnie wore a strapless Miu Miu frock at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince two weeks ago, followed by Prada for the New York premiere two days later.
“I wanted two totally different looks,” she said. “Miu Miu is more of a fun, London, fashion-orward idea and for New York it was more elegant.
“I see the red carpet as an opportunity to show people the real me. My character is perceived afs the mousy younger sister and it’s nice to break away from that - but it took me such a long time to decide what to wear.”
She also insisted there isn't rivalry between herself and Emma, who plays Hermione Granger.
Bonnie, whose character marries the boy wizard in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, tells the mag: “We swap tips and talk about collections we’ve liked. But there’s no rivalry - we just wear what we need to for the scene.”
