Tottenham striker, Darren Bent tells us where his future lies in frank interview

Bent's pursuit of happyness

DARREN BENT says he would quit England if it meant playing first-team football.

And Bent’s Pursuit of Happyness could take him to Hollywood as he looks to emulate Will Smith once he hangs up his boots.

In the meantime the striker, 25, wants to stay at Tottenham but, with Robbie Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe all apparently ahead of him in the pecking order under boss Harry Redknapp, a summer move could be on the cards.

But, following spells with Charlton and Spurs, would he not miss the capital if he was forced to move elsewhere?

"Not at all," he said. "I love playing football. Regardless of where it is, playing week in, week out, I wouldn’t mind where it is.

"The most important thing for me is playing football on a regular basis, wherever that may be. Hopefully it’s at Tottenham, but if not, then I will have to keep going and fighting.

"I wouldn’t let something stop me just because of a location."

Of a move overseas, he added: "It’s always nice to play abroad and experience different cultures. I’m still only 25 and if I get the opportunity to do that it would be good."

And a move to the Wild Wild West could be on the cards if he is to become the next Will Smith – the England striker is a huge fan of the Bad Boys and Men in Black star.

"I’d like to be an actor. I’d like to give it a go," he said. "It’s a long way off – I still have many more things I want to achieve.

"I’ve made one or two phone calls and we’ll see what happens. It’s all about exploring your avenues in football and that’s one thing I would like to do."

Bent even saw his idol during the NBA finals in Los Angeles last year.

"I saw him, tried to talk to him and get a picture, but his bodyguard was just having none of it.

"But when you’ve got him sitting with Denzel [Washington] you think, ‘Wow.’

"You forget you’re an adult and turn into a kid again."
