Sober Pete Doherty scraps gig in London

Sober Pete scraps gig

Pete Doherty is not known for his respect for the law. However, it seems last night saw a new, improved, law-abiding Doherty.

The Babyshambles front-man was banished from London on Tuesday morning, following a court hearing resulting from numerous drug offences earlier this year.

To prove his dedication to adhering to the bail conditions ordered by the judge, Pete spent last night chatting to friends on his website instead of performing a secret gig in the capital.

The singer will return to court in four weeks’ time to find out if he will be sentenced to a jail term or community service.

The apparently sober Doherty posted on his web forum in the early hours of this morning, telling fans that his detox had left him feeling creative. “I’m straight as a die, rolling up my sleeves for a grand sober creative drive,” Doherty tells his fans. “I feel an arcadian stream of consciousness stumbling unto the dawn.” And stumble unto the dawn he did, talking to various fans until 5.30am this morning, until he finally wished them all a good night. “Must sleep awhile. Night all,” he wrote.

It was a positive change for the troubled rocker, who has recently split with long-term girlfriend Kate Moss. Before Tuesday’s hearing, he had been in rehab in Yorkshire.

Pete had been scheduled to play a gig in Seven Sisters last night with his pals The General and Alan Wass.
