Sadist lodger Jason Owen who abused Baby P bragged 'Me and a friend tortured someone...but we went a bit too far'

Torture confession

THE sadistic lodger who joined in the appalling abuse of Baby P told student friends he had been involved in torture.

Jason Owen, 36, made the shocking admission to classmates on his City and Guilds construction course at Croydon College, south London.

He boasted that he was awaiting a “big” trial, and then explained: “Me and a friend tortured someone... but we went a bit too far.”

Owen, who was convicted along with Baby P’s mother, 27, and stepdad, 32, of causing his death, began a 13-week course in plumbing and carpentry at the college in June.

He was out on bail despite being charged with causing or allowing Baby P’s death and murder.

The 17-month-old toddler died last August after suffering months of sickening abuse.

A college source said: “One afternoon we were just sat round chatting about life in general and he very calmly told us: ‘I’ve got a court case coming up at the Old Bailey’.

“We looked up from our mugs of tea and someone asked him what it was about. He just replied very coolly: ‘It’s a big, serious one - you’ll know about it when it happens. Me and a friend tortured someone. But we got caught because we went a bit too far’.

“None of us wanted to ask anything else - we were all too shocked.”

It also emerged that Owen, from Bromley, south-west London, has been moved to Wandsworth Prison after a plot to attack him with razorblades was discovered at Brixton Prison.

He will be sentenced along with the two others next month. They all face 14 years in jail.
