Biker skinny jeans are the rough new look for this season
Size does matter - the thinner the better when it comes to denim legwear
30 July 2009
DENIMS are the latest victim to fall prey to the biker trend sweeping through a high street near you.
Over the past few months and with building momentum, clothing and accessories have been roughed and toughed to meet the regulations of this popular trend sparked by Balmain. Multiple zips, heavy soles and leather jackets have been produced in their droves to sate the desire to look like a biker.
Jeans have pretty much got off scot-free. They had a brief dalliance with tie dye – it didn’t work. They experimented with super-high waists before capping it at belly-button height. And they tried to persuade us that pastel jeans were a good idea. But all that was in summer, when denim gets relegated as we give our legs an airing, and change is unwanted.
As we turn our thoughts to autumn though (rain, cold chins, comfort), C.r.a.f.t denim has come up with the design of the season that is really taking off.
Originally brought out a few years ago, but relaunched due to the current trend, its biker skinny jeans are selling out as soon they arrive at Harvey Nichols and Matches. With their knee-patch and ankle-zip features, they are a discreet and playful nod to the look. They fit beautifully, too.
C.r.a.f.t did hundreds of tests on girls of all heights and sizes to make sure the knee patch sits in the right place. So whether you’re 5ft or 6ft, the stretch will place it perfectly on the knee cap.
Mulberry and Meadham Kirchhoff have sped things up with leather versions while Karen Millen provides the best high-street alternative. Wear with a simple tee and blazer or leather jacket.
