Getting too stressed over a packed Tube or bungled pizza delivery can land you in deep water

21 May 2009

Rating: 3/5

WE Londoners can be an irritable lot, though none come more enraged than Miles (former Teachers star James Lance), a 'middle-class extremist' whose war against yobs, litter and noisy neighbours is about to send him over the edge in this acerbic comedy.

Adrian Bower, also ex-Teachers, is superb as Miles’ old uni mate, a recovering alcoholic who, along with the two women in their lives (Imogen Slaughter and Sia Berkeley), is powerless to stop Miles’ descent into a megalomaniac dream world, where his Alf Garnett-meets-Kilroy pretensions lead him to Number 10.

The pacing between the real and the fantasy sequences is awkward, but Lance’s intensely demented performance sticks in the mind as a warning to anyone that getting too stressed over a packed Tube or bungled pizza delivery can land you in a seriously dark place.
