Kicking the pantry doors off the art of cooking in the 60s, Julia Childs was America’s loopy answer to Delia Smith. Did you know? Do you care? Probably not. Either way, Nora Ephron’s lame comedy-drama clumsily mashes two movies into one: Streep’s Julia, loving food and her husband (Stanley Tucci); Adams’s Julie, a bored blogger cooking her way through Julia’s recipes some 50 years later. At least Tucci and Streep are a saucy delight, even if the latter comes alarmingly close to playing David Walliams’ laydee in Little Britain.
