Cert: 18, 110min

Starring: Jorge Perugorria, Vladimir Cruz, Francisco Gattorno

RE-RELEASED as part of the Barbican’s Cine Cuba season, this 1994 ground-breaker was the first Cuban film to tackle the plight of gays under Fidel Castro’s regime and the first to be shortlisted for the foreign language film Oscar. Twenty-six years on, alas, it feels as dated as Cruz’s haircut and Perugorria’s limp-wristed caricature.
