Think surf, think cocky Aussies with long hair and short educations. But the art of wave-riding began as a Hawaiian way of life long before it exploded into a global mega-industry.

­Paddling back to the mid- 70s, director Jeremy Gosch’s doc explores how a group of cocky ­Australians and South Africans ­hijacked aloha ­culture.

It also shows how the ­natives hit back, handing out ­beatings and death threats to their blond invaders.
